Design Services

The making of a garden falls into two area of work - the design and the build. The design comes first and involves a number of stages.

Survey
The survey provides an accurate picture of your existing plot and its relationship to neighbouring features and views.
Concept Design

The survey and design brief provides the basis for the concept design which shows, to scale, the main elements of the proposed garden and is illustrated by sketches and samples of suggested materials. Another meeting gives us the opportunity to discuss the concept drawings.

Final Layout

The final layout drawing shows, to scale, all elements of the proposed garden. Detailed planting proposals and complex hard landscape design will not be shown unless the garden is small. For small gardens this drawing can be used to obtain quotations from landscape contractors. For larger or more complex designs there will be a need for construction detail drawings and a written specification to describe all features.

Construction

Suitable contractors can be suggested to undertake any building work and we can undertake the planting and lawn construction works once the hard landscaping is complete. Project management includes obtaining of quotations, contract supervision and liaison with contractors and takes the responsibility of dealing with builders away from a client.

Maintenance

A new garden needs care and attention to ensure that the plants grow well and the design becomes reality. Maintenance booklets can be tailored to your garden to guide your work or, alternatively, the maintenance can be undertaken for you.
